Handgonner Deals 1 Dmg to Raging Berzerk ANSWERED

Was in a game with friend where he used raging berzerk, i attacked with handgonner but all hit shot was only 1 dmg. To clarify, handgonner have 10 atk while raging berzerk 5 pa. I expected 5 dmg dealt, so i made 2 dummy tests where:

1) AI used berzerk then raged
2) I used raging berzerk

and both proved the same: handgonner deals only 1 dmg in spite of 10 atk he has and 5 pa raging berzerk has

I believe the handgoneer's damage is reduced by armor and not pierce armor, like catapults and other guns.

Yeah tbh I got no idea on the mechanics here. Can anyone bring definitive clarity on the relationship of gunpowder attack and armour please?

They deal melee damage from what I've seen...

All [Gunman] units have attackBurningRock=true, so they have the same type of attack as cannons - damage is reduced by normal armor.
Both pistol and handgonne shot have damage reduced by normal armor too.
