Originally developed for CAS operations in Viet Nam, it entered service too late to see any combat.
However, it found a new role as a tank buster that could defend Europe in the case of a Red invasion. After the dissolution of the USSR, it was used again for close air support in conflicts during the 90s and 2000s. It has became legendary in status due to it's durability (one flew home without an engine!
