but that thread has some other issues mentioned in it too, so I wanted this issue to have its own thread for visibility/ease for the dev(s).
Basically, some units have the property that they can't move onto forest tiles (most mechanical units, scout dogs, maybe others I haven't seen yet). On some campaign maps, you are given some of these units ON forest tiles when you start the mission. This results in those unit(s) being unusable--they can't move for the whole game. Maps I know this happens on:
Storyline, Revolution, Raid, 2 Wagons that spawn on forest tiles at the bottom center of the map;
Storyline, Hornburghs Dominion, Forest Defense, 4 Scouts (the dog) that spawn on forest tiles near the bottom middle of the map (the AI also starts with some Scout units on forest tiles near the top of the map that they can't move either--this is probably a case where the mission itself should be changed since basically the whole map is covered with forest tiles).
There may be other maps where this occurs that I don't know of, but the Revolution campaign map is particularly egregious for this issue since those wagons are pretty important for helping transport your siege units.
My proposed solution: make it so that mechanical units that spawn on a forest tile automatically "level" the forest tile to a normal plains tile when starting a/the map; or, don't let people using the map editor place units that can't move on forest tiles onto forest tiles in the first place; or, let units that can't move on forest tiles be able to move off of forest tiles onto non-forest tiles if there are any non-forest tiles directly next to them if they are spawned on forest tiles.
