The Boneyards

Post by Puss_in_Boots »

Enemies will think twice before rushing full steam ahead into the Undead base.

Added into games by the map creator. Normally to draw the Undead players towards the corpses, or to atttact players who wont even play with Undeads to a desolate land that is not filled with dirt or grit.

John unit disguised as a tile. It can be attacked by players who wish to control it. It spawns only the generic corpses once in every 5 tiles. It is almost predictable as it can only spawn a single corpse every 6 turns.

This is the type of unit that will not only help players in playing as the Undead. It also helps those map creators who want to tell a story or make the setting more unsettling.

Invisible unit spawning corpses in a certain radius? It sounds good for map editor

Isn't already possible to use triggers to spawn corpses every in a while?

What we discussed on discord about this was that it would be placed as "John" even in player made random maps, no triggers required.

You shouldn't consider that every one must use the discord server. The place to discuss proposals is this board.

Yes but it is important to give all informations inside the topic without taking for granted that everyone else knows what you are proposing...

You told us about map creators who want to tell a story. Nothing about skirmish maps...

Anyway, going back on topic, the idea might be ok but I'm not sure how would be easy to handle an invisible unit, if units can step over it or simply if you can attack it with a unit placed in a adjacent tile.

Should it be invisible? I was picturing a structure, like some sort of mausoleum.

It could be colored by dark, thick, blue grass.

Or purple grass from Terraria's corruption biome.

So it is basically a neutral graveyard. It shouldn't be difficult

Being made for map makers what about a 2x2 image?

2x2.... doesn't sound bad. Gives more space around it to spawn corpses, and helps fill in the lack of 2x2 units/buildings

I might try drawing 2 or 3 versions to provide more variety to map makers.

Sounds like a great idea, we could use this idea to make other building that spawns other types of units. like; Outpost that spawns lower-tier human units or a Orcs fireplace that creates you know, orcs. It would be much easier instead of using a lot of complicated triggers.

It's neutral, remember. We'd have John units running amuck with weapons they can't even use. But, for campaign purposes I could see some merit to giving that to players

Not bad, they are similar. Since they are tools for map makers we might make more versions.
