I think you underestimate the size of old mortars :D would probably be drawn by horses for mobility. Are those uniforms correct? They look really modern though to be fair I haven't checked. And once again, what century are they??? Each time period would have its own tier of war machines and cannons/mortars from the 17th century will look nothing like those from the 19th century.

That howitzer is the size of a rifle, and once again, what century? and it wouldnt have a stand like a musket i think.

Handcannons were some of the most primitve firearms even from the 15th century, i believe. The early versions would look much less like a gun and more like a pipe with a thicker part at the end. What you drew looks like a blunderbuss, but those usually didnt have stands. There are a lot of overlaps but we need to try and make each unit distinct looking.

Nice images, but i think we need to do a lot more research first.

And not going to lie, i think we not to drop the current nation plan, we arent really getting anywhere with it, might be better to create basic units for all factions first, then add a few unique ones and unique techs later. This way a playable versions can be created much fastse

I agree with squirrel and

Isnt the hancannoner a bit earlier for the game? Arquebuses already existed in the late 15th century

I think as part of the 'remnant' units, which right now include the 'Late Knight', hand cannoner will be fine. It can have low range and be heavily armoured. This is because during the 15th century the hand cannon developed into the arquebus, so right at the beginning of our time line.

Ill be back home in a few hours and I may begin work on some images, unless something more important comes up.

No no, sorry if that is how I came across. The sprites look very good, but show technology from the wrong centuries :D

As for the marines, very good!

The mortar would be perfect, just needs to be larger, and i think i might make a hand cannoner sprite soon.

Good luck guys

Here in Peru, at "El Real Felipe" (a fortress from hispanic period, 16th-19th century) are some museum pieces, qnd a breech loading handcannon.
What i mean is that artillery pieces came in every size and every age (at least handcannon)
We can make units that will "evolve" like muskets and cannons(artillery)

For mortar stats, i agree giving transformation ability like siege machines at aof (packed-unpacked)
For stats i would like to see how a generic mortar evolve trough ages.
Dont forget we will have variants for every artilelry piece like:
-light mortar
-siege mortar
-heavy mortar
-etc

Those would have differents stats
The same for cannons, handcannons and howitzers

Ok here are generic handcannoneers that I drew really quickly. I labelled them incorrectly on the image, but ignore that. For me they seem okay, but give feedback if you have any, I haven't made images in a while.
They are 15th century, can have the 'remnant' tag and have decent armour. I can't help with stats until I get a playable version of the game, don't know when that will be.

Is the base colour for generic units the dark green than Quadrupole is using everywhere? That doesn't seem very accurate, if we are making English units. Irregulars could be green though. For generic units we could do a quick colour change depending on their faction I think.

What do you guys think? Should we stick to each faction having its own colour scheme, I think this would look MUCH better but might take some extra time? If so a few of these units (mortar) would need a quick recolour to fit England.

And because we have gone back to this art style, I found out we could use this knight again, and the cuirassier, which I will repurpose soon.

Its nice to read u again squirrel...
Thanks for the advice. I really like ur ideas and images so i agree with them. About making differents sprites for each faction, it could be really hard and complicated but i dont know if every one agree with that. Since i dont make the images, i am not who can decide that. Anyway i will agree and help...

Arbalest.

The arbalest (also arblast) was a late variation of the crossbow coming into use in Europe during the 12th century. A large weapon, the arbalest had a steel prod ("bow"). Since the arbalest was much larger than earlier crossbows, and because of the greater tensile strength of steel, it had a greater force.
