Re: English units
■Musket line
musketeer (1550)
veteran redcoat line musketeer
■Others units
light infantry
rifleman
granadier
husar
falconet
field artillery
horse artillery
howitzer
■Some naval units
sloop
ship of the line
frigate
sailor
I think these are the units left for us to complete the very basic roster.
I've already completed the frigate however I still need to do light frigate, which I am working on.
Right now I think I will try some artillery.
How is the modding side of things going?

Re: English units
Nice cannon!
I flipped it and added team colours. Ignore the '17th' I added to its name.
Maybe it can be the upgrade to the basic cannon, which I already have a plan for, image-wise.
Btw, could you change the crew of the mortar to have a similar look to the guy using this cannon? Thanks

Re: English units
Ok here is a howitzer, and its transformation.
Since it is relatively small and light-weight, it can be dragged around the battle field by horses, which is its transformation. The main advantage of light armaments over heavy cannons will be that they can be moved around easily without use of wagons.

Re: English units
In reality they would probably be led away to the back lines until the artillery piece had to reposition a long distance again, or be kept somewhere close by. In the game, nothing. It is just a sprite change. If you are trying to go for full on realism in an 'Age Of' game then you are crazy
They are just there to move the piece around.

Really cool quad!!!! They look awesome but i am afraid they might not fit what we are triying to do, maybe i you gave the defenders a smaller round metal shield and make them look like knights it would be great.
For the muskets dont worry ill give them a look

Re: English units
1) what is with the light blue you use i most your images
? That will have to be changed to team colours.
2) wooden shields and the like dont fit at all. What century are those units? Either give them a small metal buckler or make them heavily armoured, like Gral said.
Also, light infantry/irregulars (they can be the skirmishers of this game) would wear uniforms that were light brown or green to fit more with their surroundings . Most of the time they would not fight in compact formations, but would be spread out and would use cover.
So if possible, could you change the colour of the light infantry to light brown, or green, and make one of the men lie down and another crouch?

Re: English units
Ohhh, basically, if you want to make team colours, you have to use the different shades of pink, such as the ones I used in my images (not all shades of pink work). That pink automatically changes to the colour the player picked when they are playing the game.QuadrupoleStrat wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 8:57 am Squirrel5555 wrote:

Re: English units
Not all light infantry were skirmisher. Skirmisher is a soldier who fight at guerrilla/skirmish tactics. At the napoleonic era they used to be at scattered formation against line formation infantry with a high range for their muskets, they were elite infantry. Later their musket were rrplaced by rifles and some units like jager, shapshooter, etc became usual at armies. Skirmishers werent necessarily proffesional: when napoleon attacked spain, people armed and fought against their new king doing sikirmish tactics (guerrilla in spanish) and became "guerrilleros"Squirrel5555 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 8:26 am Also, light infantry/irregulars (they can be the skirmishers of this game) would wear uniforms that were light brown or green to fit more with their surroundings . Then light infantry should be a catwgory, also there should be a generic light infantry to be produced just like generic line infantry. Skirmisher should be another unit.

Re: English units
Definition of Skirmishing
"Skirmishers are light infantry or light cavalry soldiers deployed as a vanguard, flank guard, or rearguard to screen a tactical position or a larger body of friendly troops from enemy advances."
That was the usage of light infantry in Napoleonic wars and earlier. What I mean by 'the skirmishers of this game', is that they will take less damage from normal musket fire from line infantry, just like skirmishers in AOS take less damage from archers, and do more damage to them. This is to show that their spread out formation and irregular tactics made it hard for traditional gun lines to pin them down, especially with their inaccurate guns. The extra damage is to show their usage of better, more accurate weaponry such as rifles. For me this seems like a quite good comparison. Of course there can be more elite versions such as "Royal Green Jackets" and so on.
Guerrila warfare is not a battle field tactic, like skirmishing. It is a strategy that encompasses the whole war, not just one battle field.
Of course we can have different variations of line infantry, but they wouldn't be called light infantry, we should think of a different name. Some variations of line infantry that I can think of right now are:
Line Infantry
Grenadiers (heavy infantry with bomb ability)
Grenadier Guards (elite grenadiers, not sure if this could be an upgrade or a completely different elite unit)
Conscript/Militia (seems like what you are looking for, cheaper alternative to line infantry)
I guess line infantry will need upgrades aswell?
