And on another note here are some grenadiers. They should have better stats than line infantry, cost more and have bomb throw ability with 2 range maybe? These guys were more elite than line infantry so maybe only trainable in barracks (not available in TC) and only after a special bomb tech.
These ones are 17th century.

I might update their image later, so one of them has their gun on their backs, and is holding a bomb and sword, however right now I'm too tired

Also I was digging through this topic and found that DreJaDe made an epic image for green jackets, which are elite light infantry. Maybe make them only trainable in an academy building along with other elite units, not in the barracks. They are 18th century.

However, we still don't have musketman sprite.

Also since this includes Napoleonic wars we need an early 19th century sprite. Quadrupole drew nice line infantry with hats from that period so that is a good match, I added here also.

I will attach them all here, with their centuries written in front of their name, only musketman is missing for this line.

I think officers should have their own sprites.

Also can you add the stick to hold the musket from the 17th century musketman (right now im not on my pc)

Well since the units are some kind of generic for every period they should focus on the middle of them, then they shouldnt have furket...i mean, we dont have to focus on the early part of the period, if so, we should make even more versions

If we make more version, the upgrade line will be huge. It would be disgusting to wait too long for get the final stage. Also, the player must wait to research development (eras stages upgrades)
I have been thinking about this detail and i believe the units should be just 3 stages.
-Musketeers (16th century +furket)
-Line infantry (17th century) (this can change deppending the faction like redcoats)
-Elite line infantry (18th centuty and forwards)

I am not sure to include 19th century line infantry, maybe a different unit called "riflemen" (middle 17th century) able after researching "rifling barrel" tech and its upgrade "elite riflemen" (early 19th century)

well maybe they wont be in the multiplayer rooster, but the 30 years war, 8 years war and english civil war should be represented, i agree it would be a bit too much

Ok just rename the 19th century line infantry to rifleman, they are still needed. It is probsbly better to just have 3 units in each line.

Rifle was very expensive to produce. Even at napoleonic era standard barrels were not rifled...it should be a different unit since that arm was reserved to elite regiments

I know, and that is what i said. Use the currently unused sprite called '19th century line infantry" as a new unit called rifleman. It looks good and fits what a rifleman from that time would look like.

But why are their barrels so blurry?

Nice. This will have to be a 15th century unit. Later on they started using mainly sabres and pistols as sidearms. I already have a sprite for those ones, but I'm partly remaking it right now

Actually, I based it on the 17th century one. The English Civil war part.

Yeah if you read up on it you see that there was only one regiment of cuirassiers in the entire army during the civil war that still wore full plate armour, and they were called the 'London Lobsters'.
I think the ones I am creating are 18th century cuirassiers.

I read more about it and it turns out the ones you drew are more 16th century, although some continued to wear full plate in the 17th century, especially early.

18th century cuirassier

At this point they were melee focused. So this is heavy cavalry, kind of like knights in AOS.

I was thinking. The cuirassier were shock cavalry. How about we give it a 3*3 aura around it, called 'disoriented' or 'shocked', that lowers the defence or attack of nearby enemies. This would be to show that the charge has crushed through the enemy formation, leaving them exposed and out of position. This aura could be given to other shock troops also, but would only effect units directly in the squares around them. Maybe give this also to grenadiers as they were shock infantry made up of the largest and best trained men available.

Granades ability will have a stunning effect: -1speed, -3 attack, -1/-0 armor
Giving courassier an effect similar to thracian mercenaries from aos should be better, this only affects the unit has been attacked. We could add -1 speed or something similar...
