I suggest that custom maps made locally shouldn't provide any XP (or maybe just a symbolic 1*round XP).
In general the amount of obtaibed XP should be limited by the turns spent multiplied for the map size (playing a turn on a big map require a lot more time).
When you complete campaign map (which provide gems), a player should also get a certain amount of xp as a bonus amount.

yes, i am working on it: turning off XP from own designed maps.
calculation is lot more complex but yes bigger map and longer maps gives more.

I run an local hotseat game in Age of Aldar (I think the xo system is the same?). It was an coop Vs AI. I got 232 XP for an 36 turn game. Not sure if that's good or bad.
If turn give you more XP then farming on barely alive AI for thousands of them (if AI has like one tc that make an unit every now and then the turn will be super fast) is a bit of an exploit of this system?
