I'm wondering, will the skills of Templars, Templars and Warmages be applied without any action?
Also, will this effect be removed for ranged units?

This change will be applied for all enchant weapon self abilities (for humans there was idea of enchanter unit who can give such effects to other units, in this case abilities will cost actions).
Also duration and cooldown also will be rebalanced for them.
As for ranged units — they will have their own "imbuing" abilities with their own balancing. (That will be aplied for ranged horde's poison weapon abilities as well).

For now though, orcs ranged units will lose their poison weapon till I make the new effect.

for now we can give them same new poison until we will update their ability (it will not affect too much game since they require action to use it and it i think lasts only 1, current, turn).
