yes about 20x20px would be enough (in middle of a in a 32px image)

Lol! I made it 64x64 and lost a screw from my head. I couldn't find it yet.

i think we would need a hammer like thing pulled up and striking down, can u make one based on this concept? (i mean the weapon moves back and a quick strike is only seen by white thingie)

Oh right, i forgot :p
Dogs need seperate image, a bite.

My suggestion is a simple Bite with teeth upwards and downwards and animating to close.

is it possible to switch attack animations from time to time?
Like sometimes dogs and bears will bite and use claws

* a bite
* a hammer like (axe?) Smash through
* is spear (any of em ) good?
*mace swing (good ?)
* swirl attack cut through (good?)
* claws (too big right and not compatible)
* dog stun (good , any use for a similar different attack?)
* elephant stomp
* elephant run (extra dust)
* infantry charge
* cavalry leap

Mounted units like Knight, Chariot and elephant should have small dust particles upon move (scaling).
AoF has a big planned Update too, the Scaledfolk rework.

I think the current in-game spear animation looks weird. Stratego maybe you should replace it with the current one here. It'll probably look better.
