Steel plates

When Germany invaded the Soviet Union they were surprised by several weapons they were unaware of, one of them being the ptr rifles, which had a high caliber, looked like a portable cannon.These weapons could easily pierce the front armor of panzer 3 and side of panzer 4, the measure taken to reverse this situation was to add steel plates on the sides of the chassis and turret of these tanks, so the ptr projectile would first hit the plate and it would lose speed and penetration power from the main armor.
In the game: it would be a technology that would decrease the damage suffered by infantry with anti-tank rifles.

wouldn't it be better and simpler to just add this one as a tech that increases armour of certain tanks?

Well, their purpose was just to defend against rifles, but for the game you are right.

I'm working on tanks with armored space for the Germans as an upgrade to PZ-4-J for PZ-4H, and PZ-3J for PZ-3N.
