They now (again) changed something in androidx library forcing me to set minimal sdk level to Nougat or upper (android 7 or upper)
but that would mean losing thousands of users having lower android versions...

so i am a bit stucked here...
the net workaround does not seem to work

so i wait a little.
and hating again this whole android development environment :)

i was lucky again - i worked it around...
but one day i will get cought with an unsolvable problem - or a painful one :)
