Ok, du no if its intended, but somehow Lancer units didnt get any nerf in anti cavalry bonus amount, while spearmen units of all races got, making them now a much better choice overall, compared to before

Mainly because prior lancers were weak. Sometimes too weak.
I remember time when 4 turn cost maxed skeleton lancer was worse than 3 turn cost tier 2 raptor rider in terms of raw attack power. While it must be opposite.

Now they are formidable choice to use as anti-cav units and in general they do not loose too much in terms of attack to knights (alas knights have bonuses which still makes them better anti-infantry).

Lancers alas as well as every other land cav with exception of deer and tiger cav of elves will get penalty for moving in forests though.

In conclusion:
Lancers: best offencive anti-cav unit — good speed, attack and total anti-cav damage but dies too fast from anti-cav
Halberdiers: best foot anti-cav unit — often have reach, awesome attack and total anti-cav damage, golden middle in terms of power/cost;
Spearmen: cheapest anti-cav unit — some times have reach, good to train fast them to deal with approaching enemy cav;
Hoplites: tankiest anti-cav unit — best health, defences and later will get some additional traits.

And extra:
Pikers: cheapest weak anti-cav spam units with weak attack and bonuses. Use them only if you do not have any other possibility to get required anti-cav unit and get it in time.

I mean lancers now pack bigger punch than spearmen, combined with their already better mobility and tankiness, theres rly no reason to use spearmen,halberdiers arent ever rly being used, as power range isnt rly useful against cavalry, as for hoplites, with as miniscule bonus to cavalry and low base dmg, i feel like just using regular shielders with lancers behind does better job

I guess cavalry was supposed to be buffed, now they cant be one shotted by a pikemen

Spearmen and halberdiers deal counter damage with bonus.

For lancers i am thinking to give no counter trait though.

Thats a good idea, lancers are much stronger than pikemen now, and they dont die so easily

Cavalrymen have always been useless, let them be at least a little bit needed considering that they cost 4 turns. Spearmen are still used successfully and are still useful with their rather huge damage by cavalry and cheap cost.
