The other being an elite ant psyker unit. Cost 8 hp 20 armour 1/0 move 3 Range 5 damage 1 actions 3. Channels the sheer will of the hive into distant targets to deal accurate strikes that can be very dangerous with enough supporting ants.

I am sceptical only about one thing - I'm not sure if psionic should be capable of damaging. I always considered it the control of the minds and thoughts, not the physical world. Although using heart of swarm to scale the damage of a range, many actions unit that without it is not great seems like a great way to facilitate on that unique to insectoid buff.

A new unique concept - if you ask me, give it a try!
In case it's too unbalanced, actions /damage stats can always be adjusted.
If 'psionics' theme doesn't fit here, maybe just change the name?

Change the name? What could possibly fit? We cant call it magic in a sci fi setting.

How about a ranged emp effect? The psychic energy disrupts computer systems.s etc...

Then it wouldn't scale with heart of swarm.

I think that psionics can cause harm, but this harm will not be in the form of any wounds, but rather perhaps in the form of an overload of the brain or nervous system or suggestion of apathy, depression up to suicidal tendencies or insanity that will render the enemy incompetent.

I also think that instead of dealing damage, they could be given a ranged stun or debuff.

If it's not damage then it won't be affected by heart of swarm
