The Sacred Band of Thebes, a troop of soldiers that consisted of 150 gay male couples, formed the elite force of the Theban army in the 4th century BC. The rationale behind the Band's composition was that lovers would fight more fiercely and cohesively than strangers with no ardent bonds.

That should be an aura with 1tile range just like the greek and legionary aura buff where when they're beside each other they get buffed, but in this case for flavor maybe it could be set to max 1 stack of aura per unit.
For the unit stat, itll be pretty boring to be a copy paste of a hoplite. Same for a light hoplite, rather we could make this a merc? To make them different from the other hoplites. To be clear, i dont know if they sometimes work as mercenaries.
Imo the sacred band of thebes is too iconic to make them just a normal troop, yes having an aura will makeit different but by how much? And what would their role be? We already have hoplites; heavy, medium, and light, heck even a 4speed hoplite. I just dont know how else to show that theyre not just any other unit

300 is still perfectly within the count of single unit.
It all depends on how strong the unit is supposed to be in contrast with it's cost.
Some greek units had the count of 400.
