New game mode - Endless survival

Premise: The AO* games can have alternate game modes to improve variety in play. Here is one idea for the same. Do note that I have only played AOF extensively, so the idea is focused on that. I'm sure it can be tailored to fit the other variants as well.
Endless survival game mode:
In such game, there can an area on the map which is a "Spawn point" for an endless stream of enemies. How it works is,
1) "Spawn points" are placed on a map, similar to how TCs are placed in map editor. Resultant map is a map available in "Endless mode".
2) Game starts normally, in single player mode only for now (although arguably in can work just as well with multiplayer or hotseat).
3) Every turn (ie on start of turn X), the engine randomly spawns units of total cost X in random spawn points. For example, on turn 10, it can spawn a 10 cost enemy unit, or 5 2-cost units, or 7+3 costs, etc. So enemy strength gets higher and higher over time.
3.1) In AOF, perhaps it can be set that which "race" are you fighting against. So like, Endless survival against undead, or Endless survival against Orcs, etc.
4) When the player inevitably dies, their score is the number of turns they survived.
