Dragons Origin Breeding Keep Issues

There is a series of campaign maps called "Dragons Origin" in the hard campaigns section that has some issues. I'm only three maps into the campaign, but each one so far has had the same issue.
In each one, you start off with or can gain "nests" of 4 breeding keeps by activating a trigger. The problem is, neither of these breeding keeps are able to produce any units or even technologies. I don't have too many upgrades on humans, but I've made breeding keeps before and know for a fact that I should be able to produce at least a few different units. So I'm not sure what exactly is causing it, but it seems to be something with the game.
The map says that I am supposed to be able to make dragons to help me, and without that help the maps are a lot more challenging, to point that I can't get past the third map without the use of a spell. Fixing this would allow me to get much more stars and gems, so I'd be grateful if that could be done.
