put a vanishing3 effect on any unit - meaning in 3 turns it will vanish/die.

Not a fan of the name, but I like the idea, even though its a bit OP atm. How about "banish"

How about making it area of effect, no cooldown, and instantly destroys anything that already had vanishing. This removes any chance of an instakill on valuable units for minimum cost, but would be useful against elves and undead summon swarms

I think Human and Undead would be the best races to make use of this spell. Elven mages have more of a supportive role. A lot like the orcs actually...

Now that I think about it, summon swarms are so critical to elf strategy it would be devastating not to have a cooldown on my earlier suggestion, so I would recommend a 3 turn cd I guess.

Sounds good, but I think you mean undeads rely on swarms. Elves do not have easy access too a swarm strategy, so they have to avoid enemy attacks, while still pressing damage. This is because Elven units are very expensive.

Elf shamans can easily flood the field with wolves. They might be weak, but they quickly block movement for only 3 cost for the shaman.

I have won games without this strategy, and I found their supportive skills to be more useful than their summons.

I think it should just reduce the vanishing of a summoned unit. I think it should works on units that are actually summoned (like golems and such).
