A tech lets you to advance between the two times
Infantry:
Clonr trooper->Stormtrooper
Heavy trooper-> AT trooper
Engineer->Engineer
Jet pack trooper-> Dark trooper
Walkers
AT RT -> AT ST
AT TE -> AT AT

Order 66 should make jedi unavailable to train, it should also remove any Jedi you have made.

But why would u wanna advance tho if u lost all ur Jedi? Perhaps republic and empire as separate races as in the star war age of empires would be more appropriate?

Well, the empire is very powerful in terms of troops, and have a lot more variety than the republic.
But it would probably be better to have them as different races. Though both work.
