Different unit for the castle: Gryphon Rider & Dragon Knight — IMPLEMENTED

Why don't we make something more fantasy for the human castle?
I would make dragon knights and gryphon knights

Both should be mounted flying units
Dragon knights should be heavy attackers while Gryphon knights should be faster and stronger against mounted units

What you think about it?

I like the dragon knight idea, but I got over the Griffin rider's after Warcraft.

Does anyone have some ideas? Sometimes it seems really pointless to build castles with humans when you can't really produce something useful for your army

Looks more like a bat than anything else. You may want to try increasing the height of the image and turn the dragon sideways to give a better view of the Knight.

I used a dragon from the tileset to try a frontal perspective, but i'll try a more classic one with a side perspective.

I didn't mean any offense. I looked closer; the real big issue here i think is that the dragon is tiny compared to it's rider. I think drawing a much larger dragon to emphasize the smaller knight would be beneficial.

Very well done i think.

Perhaps you could copy/paste the entire image half way up the overlap, and then add a shadow underneath to give it the appearance of flying?

I remember Daniel saying to avoid increasing height past 50. Your idea would be good bit i think it would appear like being on the upper tile

Maybe shorten and thin out the lance, to make it appear like a spear, and then raise the image about 6 pixels or so, and then add a shadow? That wouldnt be too tall, would it?

The lance is pretty thin, it might be ok to raise the image at 56 height. Let's see ehat daniel says

I've in my mind one skill for each

For the Drake Knight: Fire Breath you choose a square in a range of 4 around the knight. You fire damage and burning effect in a radius of 2 around that square

For the Gryphon Knight: Diving Charge. You can use this skill if you have not moved in that turn. You choose a square (in your movement range) that is the start of your charge, you choose then a second square (free from other units) that is in line with the first one in a radius equal to your movement range from the first one. You end your movement in that square after hitting every unit between the two squares, you have bonus against mounts. You don't receive counterattacks by usin this maneuver. For the next turn you are not considered a flying unit for the purpose of damage received (because you have landed)

I thought that the tail was going to fold in an unnatural way in the previous one, so i made it pass over the legs

I dont think the drake rider should have a shield. It looks bad on the otherwise good image. Anyways he wouldnt be needing it. Maybe you can replace the lance with a equally long sword .Also the griffon rider looks very nice but i think it should have a sword too

Well... they would need a shield when fighting other flying knights xD

Btw i wanted one with the lance and one with a sword. The shield is also for cosmetic reasons (to give them team colors).

I might try coloring the dragon with team color to make it change based on the team tough
