TCs, Unit production, and Specialty Units

I had a simple idea the other day, and I wanted to share it: my thought is that (with the aid of a trusty checkbox) we could have the option to restrict TCs Fffom being able to produce any unit we want.

What I mean, is to enable a way to make TCs only able to recruit basic units, like workers, perhaps swordsman and pikrmen, and then only allowthe barracks to be able to actually train halberdiers and man at arms.

This logic would follow suit for legionairres, knights, lancers, elephants, etc., for their respective buildings, basically only letting TCs produce the most basic of units (perhaps light Cav, swordsmen, workers) while the stables can produce knights, lancers, etc)

I think this would totally change how armies are built, and would bring an ENTIRELY new experience to the game.

Also, while talking about the Legionairres, does anyone else feel that Legionairres are a bit underwhelming? I mean, knights can be upgraded to heavy knights and have much greater speed, and Templars only take one more turn (and can heal themselves), have about the same armor, and good attack. Thoughts?

You should probably start a new topic thread if you want to discuss this. It distracts from your main topic.

This could be definitely interesting. I can see how this would change things a lot; we do this to an extent already (ie Trebuchet in a Castle). But wouldn't this add to the "underwhelming" feeling of some of these units by making them harder to produce (being available in only a few places)?
