Roman sagittarius - IMPLEMENTED

Sagittarii were roman archers.
I was thinking that, for current and futur maps, we might benefit from some new roman units.
Being roman units they would benefit from the legion commander effect.

The model i was thinking to use is this one: Image

I would also like to ear some suggestion for the stats of this unit to make it different from the current archer units.

One of my idea is that they are armored units and we might also put in some special tech to research (like a bonus for sagittarii fighting n a formation).

What do you think?

Lets make it like this: it is stronger(more hp and armour) than archer, its attack ,speed range etc will be same but the speciality of this unit will be a formation involving 5+ units . One formation in my mind is a v shape one. All units in it will be benefitted with +1or 2 attack power

i don't think we can include a formation shape, just how many other units like this one are in a certain range

Good idea to have more Roman units. So armored archers would be cool.
From the normal archer stats, if we add 2 pierce and 1 armor and raise the cost to 3, it should be balanced, right?

I think qe kind of need an elite archer of turn 4 . If possible make this unit attack twice. I am not much into roman history you know

i think that should work

We should also add 100% conversion resistance to make it in line with national units

We might also... but we already have the slinger and the future master slinger as a unit with more actions, i fear they could overlap one with the other

they are kinda weak and need atech. I need a basicunit to have a multiple attack

But as it is a normal unit i strongly oppose 100% resistance.instead 40% resistance should do just fine

sorry, what you mean? It's a national unit, like hungarian hussar and such...

I think it should have the same resistance as the legionaires.

I agree with cool guy. They are kind of normal units. 100% conversion is only for units which take a lot of effort to be produced and conversion of them will lead to devastation without much effort.otherwise no unit should be 100% inconvertible nor is logically and practically speaking

That's actually not quite true. You will notice that elephants and catapults, which are the most expensive, don't have 100% resistance. Generally, resistance is attributed to loyalty for a nation or religion. And used for balancing purposes.

That is because the elephant is too strong too be inconvertible and it is an animal. The catapult is not inconvertible for the same reason. Also it is quite difficult to get near both. That justifies everything

No I believe that your reasons above actually support what I said previously. Unless we are actually agreeing and just saying it differently. :)

I think you should loosen his stance to make him look less stiff, just my opinion. I really like the helmet and cape! :)

Why not make this into a archer with a liitle more armor and has more bonuses? For example it will have bonus against most infantry like a normal archer but it will also have bonus against knigts, other archers, other mounted unit. I think 4 turn for this stats will balance it.

I understand but i made it based on the archer, i might redraw it from 0 but usually daniel prefer tohave units based on previous one

His bow looks a little small compared to his body, it might look better if it was slightly longer :)
