I think that elves will need heavy calss warriors too. I gathered my ideas here, but I got a bit unfamiliar with statistics, so if I wrote something very weak/ way too powerful please help me correvt them.
After 20 turns the research nobleman at arms will be avaiable to research. It takes 5-10 turns to finish it and it will enable special noble units to be trained.

Cavalry:
Name: Elven Nobles/ Mounted nobles
Attack power: 10
Movement:4
Armor: 5
Pierce armor: 2
Trained, heav armoured nobleman who decided to take up arms to defend, their loved ones, to protect the honour of elves, or just want to take a nice amount of loot home. These warriors have heavy plate armour, trained horses (who are not armoured to keep agile) , a round shield and a long lance to annihilate any foe.

Bonuses: Against non armoured infantry, archers, and heavy knights (heavy mounted units)
Any kind of pikeman has a large bonus on it with a chance of insta killing them.

Infantry:
Name: Noble Infantry/ Dismounted elven nobles
Power: 12
Armour: 5
Pierce armour: 2
Movement: 3
Have bonus on: All infantry
Units who have bonus on him: Cavalry

Archer:
Name: Elven heavy archer/ Noble Archers
Power:7
Armour: 3
Pierce armour:3
Movement: 3
Have bonus on: Lightly armoured units
Units who have bonus on him: Cavalry, and infantry

I think that elves already have many fast units on their side

I think the point of this is to introduce heavy units to the Elven roster to help them compete against other heavy units because the pretty much only have light fast units.

But elves aren't meant to be strong in melee. They already rock with ranged attacks and magic, it is also against the race concept

As much as I would love heavy elven infantry.. I agree with alexander. That said, I have some Elven swordsmen/spearmen reskins around here you might like to check out
