I think that is necessary for AOF to allow players to set games so that other players can choose their race and an additional option to choose a random race. In those cases where a player prefer to choose races in advance we should allow them to choose their slot among the one that are still free.

we might just put a new boxe with the following options: race
1) set (races set by the game creator)
2) pick (every player pick his race at turn 1)
3) random (random race)

Yes, I agree. With private games, you can ask what each player wants to be before creating the game, but for public games this really should be an option.

also wouldbe good to choose slot, since you might want to join team 1 or 2 if there are teams

i have very bad images for "random" and "select" race icons can someone make or look for better ones?

Random seems fine, select however, definitely needs a replacement.
