How do I find if some faction used a spell?

You mean one of those enhancement things you can buy in upgrades that has a one time use?

Yeah. I have never bothered to buy them so actually still don't know both how they work and what options are there (but lets left _that_ out). Is the effect of such consumable seeable only only the battlefield or is it logged to the ingame chat, similarly like "X has stolen technology Y"?

I am pretty sure that it is not stated in the chat, but I could be wrong. I haven't really played anything other then upgrades set to (0)
