Age of Strategy Forums

It would be cool to make a lord of the rings storyline, age of strategy has some lord of the rings maps but it does not have orcs and goblins like age of fantasy has. Plus you can put spells and magic units you could not do with age of strategy. Overall a new storyline would be easier than making a lord of the rings app/project, and if someone did make lord of the rings strategy the units would be kind of similar to age of strategy variants

Yeah, Lord of the rings is a great idea for a fantasy game (I am a Lotr fan:D )

Would you be interested. In making that an app or a storyline

A lord of the rings app, woukd take a lot of posibilities from AoF. So I think we could make several storylines based on lotr.

Ok sounds good but do you think there should be special unique units like gandalf or sauron with spells

Caleborn, Isildur (for a start map where the ring is cut off from Sauron's hand)

Well, I have a LOT of ideas about this campaign. But we should make a campaign based on the story first.
1.Siege of Mordor (older one)
2.Battle of weathertop
3.O the way to Moria
4.The mines of Moria
5.The fellowship's breaking (where they separate)
6.Siege of helm's deep (or siege of hornburg)
6.2. Siege of isengard
7.ambush in Ithilia.
8.Siege of Osgiliath
9.Siege of Minas Tirith (part 1)
10.Siege of Mibas Tirith (part 2)
11.Battle of the pelenor fields.
12. The siege of mordor


I think of these at first. We should add a few (2-6) other. And after the story-campaign, we could make an alternative strory were the evil is the victoriuos.

I've been working on the LotR storyline for Age of strategy. And i was able to make 6 maps before the holiday's begon. Unfortunately, I'm not on my pc for the next couple of weeks, so i don't have time to finish it now.
I'm already planning to make the LotR storyline in the fantasy version, because it fits better here. But there have to be some special units + their stats.
Like balint already mentioned, we will need all 9 fellowships members, Saruman, Sauron, Ent (trees), Eagles, Nazgul, and maybe siege towers for the battle of minas tirith.

The following maps are probably necessary for a LotR storyline, i've already made the maps that are bold. There are also a lot of battles in the hobbit, so maybe it's possible to make a seperate storyline too.
1 (escape from the shire)?
2 Weathertop
3 Moria
4 Uruk hai (seperation of the fellowship)
5 knights of rohan are attacking the Orc camp
6 Wargs from isengard VS refugees to helmsdeep
7 Helmsdeep
8 Trees VS Isengard
9 Ithilia
10 Osgiliath
11 Minas tirith
12 Frodo and sam VS shelob
13 Mordor

And @balint, have you read the book "the silmarillion"?

Maybe we should wait until elves and dwarves come out.

And recruit people to start making the maps.

You can also design the units by your self if you want.

No I did't read that book. I think these are good ideas. I think we should use the name of the castle (Hornburg) instead of the place.I recently saw a game for nintendo wii. It's name: Aragorn's quest. that would give a few ideas for the maps.

just a few things:
(minor) at the edge of the blade of the uruk berserker thrlere are two spikes. And they use 2 sword
The pike of the pikemans were 2-3 man tall, so it would be good, if it overlaps the upper tile a bit.
