Age of Lord Of The Rings (AoLOTR) CLOSED TILL 2044.

Daniel said no, but there is more than meets the eye here. Since many people think this is way too related to Age of Fantasy, they are wrong. Im willing to fight for this Age of vaiant, and since many people like to compare stuff, here it is:

NOTE: AoL would be mix of LOTR, Hobbit, and Stall...sth

L - Age of Lord Of The Rings
F - Age of Fantasy

1st category: Factions
F
Humans
Orcs
Elves
Undead
Dwarves(future)
Scaledfolk(future)

L
Gondor
Rohan
Galadhrim Elves
High Elves
Mordor
Gundabad
Angmar
Iron Hills Dwarves
Blue Mountain Dwarves
Red Mountain Dwarves
Half-Trolls
Tauredain
Moredain
Moria Goblins
Wood-Elves
Dol Guldur
Easterlings
Haradrim
Dorwinion
Utumno
Rangers Of The North
Good (All good factions)
Evil (All evil factions)
Get crazy (All factions)
...

2nd category: Upsides and downsides
F

+ Infinite amount of content
+ Various races
+ Colorful
+ Design leader is active and is fair
- Too many abandoned topics
+ Sophisticated vote system
- Sea battles are very imbalanced
- Often bugs
+ Design leader is a JSON pro

L
+ Various races
+ Themed(many people like LOTR, so this would draw their atention and even get ahold of AoF, AoS, AoWW and AoUFO!)
- Images will probably be less pretty than AoF
+ Will contain all LOTR characters
- Design leader isnt that good at JSONS
+ Design leader would be very active
+ Will be 64x64 (i already have in mind how to balance)

I really would like to gain some support, but i know no one would do that because every single one would say "nah, too overlaping with AoF..." "no, its too similar to AoF"
So here is da FAQ:

Q: It's too similar to fantasy...
A: No, its not. There would be many, many units whose roles are similar, but there will never be 2 units with same stats. It would also be 64x64, which is enough for a group to fit in, making a cool looking army. Giant monsters (trolls, ents) would look really GIANT in this variant, because 64x64 would allow that. Race attributes will also be different, much different.
Example:
Orc warrior VS Mordor Orc Warrior

Hp 24 Hp 13
Cost 2 Cost 1
... ...

Q: Who would be design leader?
A: Well, obviously that would be me, im VERY familiar with the lore and im the one that is trying to make AoL, hope my efforts pay off.....

Q: 64x64 would result in less strategy
A: No, it wouldnt, quite the opposite, you would have to VERY STRATEGICALY place your troops, because elven archers wont have 9 or 10 range, but about 4... so you would need to protect them with less fragile units

Q: It would be very hard to make dev version because there wont be any tiles or any people interested in this project...
A: For the beggining, we can borrow AoWW tiles. As for other, i will give the most of me to interest people and value their suggestions :)

Q: Do we follow the film or the book?
A: We follow the book, with film being image inspiration.

Q: Copyright! I knew this project is a fail
A: I checked online, it is not if following the book.

Come on now...throw down that "nah" rain :x

If you actually stayed true to the written lore, I would be in favor. However - Daniel has said no.

This can not be a AoS variant run by us. It will have to be a user mod created by you (I assume) after you have graduated under the hood studies.

It is a request to open up a section for AoL. This section opens up in the forums. If it were to belong to off topics, then it wouldn't have to be placed into these forums. Topics such as, "Gone Stratego" or the XCOM game variant could have been belonged here just as well.

This is probably unlikely :) Maybe after there are people making the mod

It wasn't for a mod. If it were then he wouldn't have asked for any kind of permission or justification to make an AoL.

Are you sure? Anyway I still wouldn't go for another medieval/fantasy game cause even tough you make different units and a specific setting and go 64x64 (that I would have liked for AoF too) it would be a game for the same target of player and would require an additional effort for Daniel (which already has an hard time following the current games development).

Anyway the final word is his...

We might still consider the 64x64 idea tough.

Also if you want many units for campaigns we might still implement those for your maps.
