Do you prefer force fields or walls as basic fortifications?
If you want to see both options,but in different races,post it. Ex: You want force fields for humans,and walls for Reptilians,so write: Humans: force fields Reptilians: walls, or something similar.

General case, I'd say force fields, though varied mechanics.
Myconids, for example, would probably be more of a "spore field" that is just super dense concentrations of energized spores, capable of causing extreme damage to anything passing through
