Antmen Queen IMPLEMENTED

Antmen Queens are royal rulers of insect world it's not diffrent in world of insectoids
Unit has buffing aura and abillity to build/spawn eggs that can later turn into random insectoid units

I think insectoids are getting too ant themed. Maybe this Queen should just be labeled Hive Queen. Then be unique about how this unit would look.

I'm guessing she will produce eggs, (summon) which which would turn into units, should it be randomize or she has a choice to produce what unit she wants?

Yes, the name is hive nest. This building is able to produce low tier insect units (infantry sizes), it is more reasonable since queen mostly stays at nest anyways.

I was thinking of a queen that has ability too lay eggs that spawns in a random unit like the lich in aof.
But it can only lays eggs every 2 turns.
It has high hp but no armor
It looks like a giant larva witn centipede legs

Doesn't sound too complicated an idea, but there is no source code for handling automatic and unstoppable metamorphosis, where an unit transforms (without dying) based on turn count.

Maybe they can only spawn one type of unit or just it like air carrier like in aow.
A moving spawner but doesnt have any attack power and has high hp

We have a whole bunch of ideas for queens - as for the spawns, I think we are going to make them spawn eggs that would that after a few turns would turn into infantry - unless they are destroyed earlier. I'd say if she was rather expensive, had 2 actions, 2 such abilities with 2 cooldown, and after 2 turns they would turn into basic infantry it would be a pretty funny mechanic, giving you double the amount of units. This can be balanced somehow, given the insectoid infantry is gonna be weaker than usual. Also queens would give some auras making infantry units stronger and maybe some slight offensives capabilities with ok hp - not enough of the two last to make them frontline units.

Maybe they can spawn weaker units u can call them broodlings they look like half dog half cockroah
And can spawn special units like royal guards that has good hp and more power the like a centaur type there legs are ants and the body of a humanoid with wings and mantis arms

Considering it would be kinda weird for already equiped soldiers to spawn from eggs. Insectoids could perhaps use lower life forms as some kind of war animals like broodlings and their queens. flooding the battlefield and creating living meat shields.

Merged all the queen topics, we had 3 xD.
Noaharts made a great image for this unit.
Stats can look kinda like this
Antmen Queen:big creature
Can be build in grand hive (mega)
Cost:6
Hp:53
Atk:5
Armor:1/1
Speed:3
Sight:4
2 action
Ability
Monarch Presence aura :gives units increase atk and armor by 2 range: 3
Lay eggs - summons eggs unit, no cooldown, 1 range
Eggs
Hp - 10
Other stats 0
After two turns, transform into a unit
So basically shed have a useful aura and an ability to spawn to 2 turn units every turn, but they would hatch after two turns, and there is a risk of them being destroyed beforehand. The player would need to balance the combat and production value of this unit.
Also spawning units could be either basic infantry (maybe with some variants) or some sort of larvas that maybe turn into them, whatever we prefer.

I gave lay eggs ability a 1 turn cooldown and the eggs take 4 turns to hatch, it would be op otherwise I think.
We need an image for the eggs and also for the aura's indicator.

They both look great, but I think the last one will fit the rest of the game's graphics better.
