Age of Strategy Forums

Pictured here are Yan Lifida (Horse Riders) from Nigeria's Durbar Horse Festival, where men from Northern Nigeria (mainly Hausa ethnic group) don the traditional arms and armor of the Yan Lifida Cavalry of the Sokoto Caliphate. Similar Cavalry units have been utilized by other West African kingdoms for centuries, and I thought that it would make a cool addition to the Age of Strategy game.

Based on these calvary units, I drew the sprite pictured below. (One properly sized one and another big one for reference.)

I have no idea what the stats would be, but based on what I have read, it seems that Yan Lifida were used in cavalry charges against West African Archers. So I was thinking that Yan Lifida would be a calvary unit with high pierce armor, but still with differing stats to the Shield Knight, like having 5 speed instead of 4.

stats for 4 turn cost looks great too, for image, the man's lower body can b shorter and the horse's cloth can b raised up so its two legs are more visible than just a hoof
