Tis one thing to fight a battle by strength of arms, tis another to win without spilling blood.
Why not have the ability to do both?

Sry,I didn't hear that,could you repeat again?
Jokes apart, what did you actually mean with this idea?

Warriors that can convert...
Swordsman
Archer
Spearman
Knight
Herald (banner bearer)
Maybe more...
All would have the ability to convert enemies (as a missionary would)
All would be affected by smithing techs
Major cost increase, recruitable at a building on it's own, or from associated recruitment centers. Maybe requiring tech research first...
If willing, I will come up with stats and images.
All I need is "the go ahead" and I'll begin immediately.
Thoughts?

There is already Teutonic knight whose main purpose is to convert (esp. Shielders and knights)

Well, Teutonic doesn't receive any blacksmith upgrades... Thus, he later becomes obsolete...
Besides, having more options wouldn't hurt would it?

On regular units wud hurt
An archer convert a knight. "Great"
On Non religious units I don't like this idea
Actually nor on" healer"but that's is an old friend.
Banner bearer, no
For non religious approach
I prefer some special ways
Like slaver -
Who.. ..prostitutes
Money mans
Some rurel of nation presence -
2 And in NATION MODE may some currently 100%resist wud get a convert way
For Tribal units shamans.
Or a way what decrease their resistance-
"Fear"what leaves vurable to all mentioned ways.
3.there were alternative moral system and the surrounding unit decrease atk/moral idea.

Well, I am a religious combatant by nature.
Religion wise... While there are knight orders... Putting what I have in mind just won't work.
Thus, something general to set them apart.
Pious... , Devout...
Maybe part of an Inquisition... The join, or be burned as a heritic, train of thought.
This role can be played from a pious or tyrannical standpoint.
Inquisitior (campaign unit)
Inquisition Paladin (swordsman)
Inquisition Marksman (crossbowman)
Inquisition Sentinal (spear, halberd, poleaxe, swordstaff)
Inquisition Knight (cavalry, either knight or lancer)
Cleric (healer with REALLY high heal rate, focuses on conversion)
Building
Monastery (carry cap 3-4, heal rate, 10,build on mountains only)

Don't forget this is not fantasy
So Historically accurate or realistic approach is needed
At least converting it in playable form
(for exl. knowing that
How ranged heal logic works..
Inquisitors were fanatic and sadistic mass killers.. (how simpatyc)-we can ignore this and add some reduce spell resist)
Yet again
In pure combat units can be op
Remember
"no paladin can convert the undead he's fighting with."
There's an idea of bringing in crusades as playable.
And a bishop with convert
Well for monastery even cud add Monks who make vine and boost units with it

Well, monastery can be for crusaders and monks
Also note: AoS isn't historical entirely, it has historical elements. So the rules can be bent just a little.
There were plenty of organizations that were sadistic... Based upon perspective.
There are plenty of units that have 100% SR, and once loyalty is researched, convert becomes nigh unusable.
So, not too.

Only ones with 100 resist r national units like mongol, spartan and templars (romans were not that loyal to have any spell resist I guess) and elephants/ cavaliers with loyalty will get their HP reduced to 1 from convert attempt so its not useless

I'm thinking of this... If not, the just an upgradable swordsman

Do you even realise it's not AoF section?
This is for Age of Strategy. The original. Entirely different game, that only shares engine and the dev.
If you click on "forum root" that is very close the left upper corner, it will take you to list of forums.
On eleventh position, at the very start of "Other Age of Strategy variants" section there is a link for Age of Fantasy subforum.
