Unit - Camels - ANSWERED

I was trying to think of a new good troop a while ago but I wasnt able to think of a great troop (since the game already has lottttsss of awesome troops and troop specialties and abilities without my help :/ ). But camel riders came to my mind.

Im not too sure about this but ill just share it to you (whoever comes across this post) my idea.
The camel rider will have same strengths and weaknesses as knights (ex. pikeman weakness) and it will have slightly less power and hp. And maybe 1 step slower than the awesome knights. But, heres the weird part, itll have a sand bonus!

What? Sand bonus? Lol. To make things interesting itll be stronger when its in a desert tile of the map. Like maybe a 25% attack bonus when the enemy is on a desert tile and maybe -2 incoming damage when it is on a desert tile.

Why? Explanation is simple. Camels and their riders are used to the desert! They dont get tired and dehydrated easily whereas other soldiers arent used to the scorching heat.

I dont know if thats hard to make ut itll be very interesting. Especially in the world map! Conquering Africa will need camels instead of knights! And other maps like desert mediterranean will be so cool like "What will I make.?? Camels or knihts!?!?"

So... whaddya say?

Not sure if I wrote correctly...

mameluks were elite turkish cavalry, who used camels as horses.

Hm, mameluks were basically a muslim knight. Would it have similar stats?

i might try, they should also have arabian blades
If terrain will be implemented they should have extra movement on sand or else they might be a faster and lighter unit with high attack but less HP than a knight

and in AOE they were good against cavalry as i remember - like the lancer.

Scimitars were good to avoid the blade being stuck in your enemy, they might have some sort of ride-by-attack options, so that they can move, attack and move again (like striking while moving).
What you think?

By the way, mameluks were mounted on horses, but arabian armies had camel cataphract

Yes, i've drawn it longer before, but i had the feeling it was too tall among the other units, i'll make it taller in the next rework

yes, cool!

my little suggestions:
- maybe the camel head is a little small,
- and the neck is a little thin.
- and also the leg movement is not right - but i could not tell you what is the problem, just i feel it not right. (maybe need switching the front legs position?)

Daniel (the dev) wrote:and in AOE they were good against cavalry as i remember - like the lancer.
Yes, because horses were afraid of the camels.
Cyrus the Great used this concept against the Kingdom of Lydia, I think.

You might make it different from the lancer with another concept, instead of an higher bonus against cavalry you might make the camel raiders avoid cavalry counterattacks and reduce damage received by cavalry (because horses don't go near camels enough) or give to cavalry units a chance to fail their attacks against camels

maybe a skill:
Smelk of camel: units cant go near the canel for 2 turns :)

I like the idea about them having a chance to evade a cavalry attack.

Makes them a pretty potent unit against those heavy knights.

I think its neck looks a little large compared to its neck. Other than that, I think it looks really good.

Btw, what were the stats?

Well, it was daniel's request to have a larger neck ;)

Btw i had no stats, i only made graphics on that one
