Pikeman should ñnt be thatvexpensive...they were very popular and easy to train at late medieval era. Also, it became the main part pf an army so it should be cheap, even militia (1 turn unit) could have a pike version for 16th century...
Maybe some upgrades and variants like tercio pikemen, lansquenet pikeman, swiss pikeman(mercenary) could be better quaylity and more expensive
