Shield wall

Gives shielders an ability very similar to legions training tech.
a shield wall is a military tactic that was common in many cultures in the Pre-Early Modern warfare age. There were many slight variations of this tactic among these cultures, but in general, a shield wall was a "wall of shields" formed by soldiers standing in formation shoulder to shoulder, holding their shields so that they abut or overlap. Each soldier benefits from the protection of his neighbours' shields as well as his own.
This should make shielders more useful
I suggest this tech would cost 6
And would work like legion training tech.
But a weaker one.

Like how weak? +1/1 stackable or non stackable this should have a disable pikes aura with 1range
Disable pike, aura
1 range
Effect: gives -1 range to pikemen and upgrades
Descirption: by closing onto a pikeman it gives him no space to reach out to farther enemies
should this be a seperate tech?

Brilliant idea! If they cant hit the guys behind the shields, then they certainly wont be able to hit the guys behind the guys behind the shields! No, I think it should be part of the same tech, it makes perfect sense.
I love this shield wall idea, all aspects and possibilities of it. I wholeheartedly support this endeavour whether you like my idea or not...(I might be getting too complicated here)
...I think it should be +2/+2 for a unit protected on both sides, but with "shield wall" as a transformable ability to activate (but to offset this defense bonus to high defense units, none of your units can pass through the shield wall either until it is deactivated).
Now I am definitely getting too complicated, but if you had a bank of pike men lined up behind your shield wall, could that give first strike anti-mounted attack on any Cavalry trying to get through?

Yeah exactly..but might work like legion training tech.
This will take shielders to a whole new level they will be more useful than they are now once they have this ability and new strategys will be born like shielder x pikeman combo I also I like the idea of disable pike.

Yeah the disable pike idea, ive been thinking of it for a while now.
And if its transformable itll be like they cant attack once they transformed making it a more defensive approach and should it make the transform 1speed and we would need another img for all shielders how about making all shielders 3 speed but lower p.armor then once transformed they move 1-2 tiles then recieve better armor/p.armor

An aura with 1 range sounds cool and will only work when in formation

Actually - I have planned a whole group of similar techs.
Thought it could be named formations or something like that.
It would be researched in new building - strategist tent maybe.
Techs would include:
- cover ability for all shielded (not big shielded) units (speed -1 +2 p.armor personal)
- shield wall for big shielded units (+1/1 armor to all adjacent foot units)
- tight formation for most melee (+1power, +1 melee armor to all adjacent melee)
- volley for archers (+1power to all adjacent archers)
- wedge for heavy cavalry (+1 power, +1/1 armor for adjacent heavy cavalry)
- loose formation for light cavalry and hussars (+1 p.armor in range of 2 and -1 p.armor adjacent to light cavalry and hussars)

Indicators are 5-8pixels wide and 9-12 in height.
Tech icons 32x32.
Shield wall looks great.
Two other are a little hard to read, while the archers are somehow recognizable after looking a moment longer - horses on second one are harder to see.
As for ideas - I like the idea of arrows and a dot. Generally if all these techs would be tactic-related arrows would represent it good - on indicators too.
As for bow, shield, sword for indicators - we already have latter two and bow is really hard to draw on so few pixels.

with too many indicators i am starting to get confused...i like the development of the game, but too many new things are a little suffocating...so i would really preffer it if changes come slowly...
