What do you mean by light cavalry?
Cavalry should be just fine.

Actually, hea y cavalry was so heavy armored that even polearm wielders were not able to deal with them by the armor...
This way heavy cavalry is much harder to defeat but they have less p armor (actually longbows were used against them and after a pair some shots knights fell and were unable to move without the horses)
At aos mounted uunits are divided by miunted and elephants...
At aoww there are light medium and heavy thanks...

since we are gonna have halberd men at arms, this topic is useless.
maybe this could be another halberd based unit, cheaper and lower stats... but it wouldnt be a heavy halberd unit...

I feel like this can be an upgrade of the spearman or something similar.

mmh, the spearmen were supossed to be upgraded to pavisse spearmen
but its not a bad idea, even on aos spearmen is upgraded into it
what the others say?

Well in AOS Hospitaller Halberdier and some other halberd units have different role to spears.

I was thinking, spearmen would be the basic infantry, as there were not many sword units, right?
So:
Spears) good vs light and medium infantry, ok vs cav
Pikes ) 2 range, good vs light and medium infantry, good counter vs cav(is it possible to set bonuses to only happen during counter attack? This would simulate cavalry charging straight into pikes)
Halberds) good vs medium and heavy infantry, ok vs cav, ok vs pikes(halberds and greatswords were used to destroy pike formations) very durable amd focused on defense
Greatswords/zwiehanders) same as halberds but focused on attack instead of defense
Swords(for example dismounted knights/man at arms) very good vs medium and light infantry, usually very hard to kill due to heavy armour
Warhammer) very good against heavy infantry

Ok let's us discuss this because it is pretty important :D

spears: good against light and medium cavalry, good against low armor infantry

pikes: 1 range (muskets have 3) good against cavalry, deadly against heavy cavalry, first strike on counter attack

halberds: i like the idea to make them anti pikemen, but it could work better against all polearm wielder infantry (including polehammer) or good against antimounted infantry

great swords: the same as hablerds, but yeah, more agresive

swords: it doesnt mean its a heavy infatry unit, bonus v buildings light/medieum infantry an ranged units

warhammer: good against all heavy units (including cavalry but just a small bonus)

I was saying most swords will be heavy infantry though, looking at what we got right now.

I don't think pikes should be deadly against heavy cavalry, just pretty good. Gunpowder units should be the ones with the highest bonuses against armoured units.

Other than that, I agree

well, the pikes formation meant the heavy cavalry disappearance...thats why i though it would be a good idea, not because its actually deadly, its more a refference to that fact

mmh...about swords, just for now, dont foregt about reodeleros or sword jenissaries, they were now heavy infantry...

i thought we were not going to talk about ranged units...thats why i didnt mention gunpowder units, but yeah, they have a small bonus against heavy infantry
