Aos chat restricts so many words.....
It doesn't allow me to continue when there is a single word in the message that is considered a bad word e.g. GallowGlass because it has the word ass in it.
Glass - it restricts because it has the word ass
Bummer - It restricts because it has the word bum
Christ - Is this even a bad word? Player named coder4christ has christ on his/her name.
Badass - Same as first.
Mick - What does that mean ? Lol. There is a player named mickmackmike in Aos.
Maybe we could only restrict specific bad or swear words since they really mess Aos chat with those restrictions.

Tit is another daft one - an English slang word for breast and/or a daft wally - neither one is rude or offensive...but thé letter combination of T I T come up in so many words!

I think Mick is out because it is a slang word for an Irishman (just like Paddy) - again, hardly insulting.

And yet, in one of the campaign missions, someone drops the C*** word in!!!!!

I cant even use the words "malheuresement" or "heuresement" in French (which mean unfortunately and happily) because they contain the scientific word semen!

And that's another problem too - aswell as the lack of an apostrophe ( ' one of those things) - a rather necessary piece of punctuation - Spanish, French and German speakers cannot use ñ, ä, ö, ü, ß, è, é, ê, plus many others which are, for the most part, completely different letters and pronunciations than their unaccented counterparts.

(This might get merged into an old topic of mine, Quaddy, but I thought I might as well add my voice to yours cos it really is a nightmare at times, and if it can be changed, really should be).

Edit: ç is also hugely important in Fench, à aswell.

The aos chat doesn't accept most of the things in the keyboard e.g. /$&%. Which is sad since they make typing more easier. I hope stratego adds them.

How about we only restrict swear,sexual,insulting words? E.g. C*nt. I can't even type gallowglass or Coder4christ! Which is a unit & a player in the game! Well I can via adding periods between the letters but still, it has to be changed.

Also we can add more Aos chat moderators incase something happens like a fight ?

We should manually unban those words so itll be easier. Here, make a list of the words to be unbanned.

Too many.

We should just make them not restricting words like this: Badass, glass, christmas etc. They just ruin the chat by restricting them even if they are seperate and not insulting words. The chat system should only restrict the chat if the words are specific. Like typing F and N word or something.

And if my suggestion is to be added we will need a group of chat moderators consisting of active and nice players to preserve the global chat of aos.

Btw why does the multiplayer chat doesn't assist symbol key things e.g. slash on the chat while on map editor map it is totally available?

I can't remember which one it was, I hammered through a load of campaigns in my early days end of last year to get me hands on the gems, but since daily gift came in (bless it's cotton socks!) I've been MP only.

All I can remember is it was after an in-game trigger - I think you destroy something, and a text box comes up going "arrr you €¥&@$!"

I would rather say it's a bad idea to ban certain sequences of letters which can mean something obscene. Because if person wants to say something rude it will find a way to do it. And these restrictions filter so many usual words like "closer" and "massive", for example, so it doesn't make any sense.

Wow, seriously....!? We cannot write the word jewel because Jew is a profane word.....?!?!? Really...?!?! This profanity filter is out of control! How the heck can things like Jew and Christ and Hell be forbidden words? And closer and cluster and bump and quantity...?

C'mon, we need a new profanity filter! And I still haven't found the map, but while I can't even mention "Japan", or say "unfortunately" in French, one of the campain maps drops the C bomb!.... Am I even allowed to say bomb...? I dunno

What do we do....do we suggest words for the whitelist that don't get integrated, or do we just say fukc it?

Sorry, but that's exactly my point. We can't type so many innocent and innocuous words, making simple communication an exercise in avoidance, but somewhere in here someone has got away with using the most offensive word there is!

There are players who can't even type their user names, but find the right map, and you get a text box saying "ahhhhh, you c**ts" but without the asterisks!

Tbh, since mentioning it at the start of this thread, I have been trying to find which map it is. I first found it when I was new, so I wasn't exactly worldly wise. I am in the slow process of revisiting campaigns when I have no turns.

All I can remember, as a result of triggering something (destroying something, I think) the text box came up. If you are able to search through text files, I can't remember exactly how "arrrgh" was spelt, but the rest of the message box was "....you c#*€s", but uncensored.

Listen, sorry Dev, I am a bit rough around the edges, but I don't set out to offend or insult anybody. I was the first to bring to your attention the racist spam of a few weeks ago. I accept that I can come across as a bit edgy, in your face, a bit hardcore.... my apologies, while I am in your forum I will dial it down.

Geez, dev The profanity filter is not normal. I am hoping for this profanity filter to be changed. this, it's just not a good addition to AoS. Many players have commented towards the chat profanity filter about it being ridiculous. We can't type any words with words on the profanity filter list.

The campaign you are looking for is "Ambition" but the map is hard to remember exactly.

You can't type the word "competition" either, because it has the word "tit" in it.

folks:
1. it can take a month to make a profanity filter from scratch, also days to find and try any existing - so it is not easy and i totally feel we have many MUCH more important things to fix in gameplay and such (also everyone would also complain on the new one too..). - i would be very happy to remove the filter but when there was no filter the chat was insane and full of trolls and flaming things and using harsh/hurting words - i kknow with filter also but much less!
2. it is easier to me if there would be a clear list what to whitelist - i read tru the topic and tried to find the suggested ones, but several place they were hidden in big compaining texts -> hard to extract the words to be whitelisted... i am not even sure i found all, here is the list i found (below)
3. would be awesome here if a new suggestion comes someone could summarize the new words into a list in this format (as i post them now.

I think in aoww the word Jap is illegal for some reason making the word Japanese of course, illegal too.
