It can be a non-combat unit, which is used to operate a specific vehicle, these units can be of different ranks, depending on the rank, improvements or special abilities are granted.

I once have an idea of having veteran crew units. Veteran is limited resource that can be acquired through many ways. They can buff a tank, planes, or ships. Once buffed, the veteran will then disappear thus one time use, but the buff on the unit will last forever.
So use the veterans well and keep all the veteran units alive.

this would be a good idea in the game and would make it more realistic as if the tank were a neutral unit that can be captured by both sides

Tanks have a crew inside, you can't just walk up, open the hatch and get inside.

let's make an example we have a tiger tank that is without the crew to make repairs in a german camp then the camp is attacked by soviet troops and they capture it to many that happened in the 2nd war or even in today's conflicts
