Operation catapult was a British mission in which a taskforce of naval ships and a few planes was sent to destroy a group of docked French ships, including a few battleships. This was done so that the Germans wouldn't capture them and use them in their own navy, which could've shifted the tide of the entire Battle of the Atlantic. It was successful, the only British losses were 5 mostly obsolete Blackburn Skua torpedo bombers, while the French lost a battleship, along with 5 other ships being damaged and the British capture of a few French ships.
